Arts for All: Connecting to New Audiences

During a recent conference hosted by the Wallace Foundation, experts from the arts and other fields gathered to share ideas and practical guidance on how arts groups can be more successful at building participation as competition for leisure time increases. The report that came out of the conference, Arts for All: Connecting to New Audiences (24 pages, PDF), argues that arts groups can widen their audiences by improving their marketing, increasing their use of technology, and doing more audience research. Indeed, the organizations that are willing to embrace these changes — and the often painful internal adjustments that go with them — are the most likely to earn the loyalty of tomorrow's audiences.
