Breakthroughs in Shared Measurement and Social Impact

FSG Social Impact Advisors has issued a new report on social enterprises that have developed innovative and coordinated Web-based approaches to reporting performance, outcome, and impact measurements. Funded by the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation, the report, Breakthroughs in Shared Measurement and Social Impact (26 pages, PDF), found that elements of successful shared measurement systems include strong leadership and substantial funding throughout a multiyear development period, the effective use of Web-based technologies, independence from funders in developing indicators and managing the system, and the testing and continual improvement of the system through user feedback.
