A Bridge to School Reform

The Wallace Foundation's most recent national education conference, held in New York City in late October, brought more than four hundred participants, including governors, mayors, superintendants, principals, and researchers, to discuss school leadership improvement and likely pathways to creating durable system-wide change. The conference report, Education Leadership: A Bridge to School Reform (36 pages, PDF), features a commentary by Wallace Foundation president M. Christine DeVita; an essay by education journalist Richard Colvin highlighting how states, districts, and university leaders are grappling with the challenges of education leadership improvement; and excerpts from talks by two of the keynote speakers, Education Trust president Kati Haycock and Stanford university professor Linda Darling-Hammond.
