Artists' Centers: Evolution and Impact on Careers, Neighborhoods and Economies

Artists' Centers: Evolution and Impact on Careers, Neighborhoods and Economies (113 pages, PDF), a new report from the University of Minnesota's Project on Regional and Industrial Economics, examines how dedicated art spaces advance artists' work and careers by providing artists with opportunities to share space and equipment, learn from other artists, perform, and/or mount exhibitions. Funded by the McKnight Foundation, the report also credits dedicated art spaces with enhancing the state's ability to produce, attract, and retain artists, and argues that such spaces contribute in significant ways to the region's economic development.
