ICT: The 21st Century Transitional Initiative

A new report from the Aspen Institute Communications and Society Program offers a number of ways that the Obama administration can leverage information and communications technologies (ICT) to help stimulate the economy and re-establish long-term economic growth. Based on an August 2008 meeting of communications policy experts from the public, private, and nonprofit sectors, the report, ICT: The 21st Century Transitional Initiative (58 pages, PDF), calls for the administration to promote the digitization of government service delivery, encourage widespread diffusion and adoption of broadband, and leverage the use of ICT to reduce energy costs and carbon emissions.
