According to Drive-By America (16 pages, PDF), a new study from the Violence Policy Center, 549 drive-by shootings were reported nationally during the second half of 2006, claiming 156 lives and injuring 465 individuals. Funded by the Joyce, California Wellness, and Herb Block foundations, the study identifies data and trends associated with drive-by shootings, including the number of incidents by state and victims, as well as time of day and location. According to the study, California led the nation with 115 drive-by shootings, followed by Florida and Texas.
