Investing in Sustainable Energy Futures: Multilateral Development Banks' Investments in Energy Policy

A new report from the World Resources Institute examines energy-related loan programs at the World Bank, the Inter-American Development Bank, the Asian Development Bank, and the Clean Technology Fund. Issued as part of the International Institute for Sustainable Development's Bali to Copenhagen project, the report, Investing in Sustainable Energy Futures: Multilateral Development Banks' Investments in Energy Policy (50 pages, PDF), found that despite increased support for low-carbon energy technologies, many loan programs do not address aspects of electricity policy, regulation, institutional capacity, and governance that would enable long-term investments in sustainable energy.
