Organizational Development and Capacity in Cultural Competence: Building Knowledge and Practice

The need for greater cultural competence in health systems has become more pressing in recent decades, as growing racial, ethnic, and linguistic diversity in the United States has resulted in widespread disparities in healthcare access and treatment among minority populations. Organizational Development and Capacity in Cultural Competence: Building Knowledge and Practice, a new monograph series from CompassPoint Nonprofit Services and the California Endowment, is a series of three reports describing cultural competence theories and best practices that go well beyond occasional trainings, workshops, and policy statements. Such efforts, the authors further argue, are among the most promising approaches to improving the delivery of quality health care to minority populations.
