National Poetry Month

National Poetry Month

Established in 1996 by the Academy of American Poets, National Poetry Month is celebrated every April with the aim of increasing the visibility, presence, and accessibility of poetry in our culture. This year, the academy has launched a Web site formatted for most mobile devices. The site contains an archive of twenty-five hundred poems that can be searched by keyword or browsed by author, title, occasion, or form. Poems on the site cover a wide range of themes, from love and friendship to grief, childhood, and even clothing and extraterrestrials.
