Nearly half of adults online have visited a video-sharing site like YouTube — nearly twice as many as did a year ago, a new survey (6 pages, PDF) from the Pew Internet & American Life Project finds. The survey asked Internet users to respond to a series of questions during a typical day at the end of 2007 and compared the results to responses from a similar survey conducted in 2006. Fifteen percent of respondents in the new survey said they had used a video-sharing site the day before they were contacted, up from 8 percent the previous year. According to the study, the dramatic growth in video-sharing site visits is tied at least in part to the popularity of such sites among men, adults younger than 30, and college graduates.
