Safety Kit to Prevent Child Abduction

Safety Kit to Prevent Child Abduction

Abducted children often know their abductors, such as family members, neighbors, or adults who have befriended them. To help parents teach kids about abduction and how to avoid dangerous situations, the Polly Klaas Foundation has prepared a Child Safety Kit (24 pages, PDF). It includes statistics, safety practices, the "What If" game, abduction prevention guidelines, fingerprint and DNA documents with instructions in English and Spanish, and suggestions to prevent Internet abductions, runaways, and abductions by a family member. The good news is 99.8 percent of children who go missing do come home.
