You Have Ten Days to Move Out: A Scan of Nonprofit Organizations Working on the Front Lines of the Foreclosure Crisis in Greater Washington

Families in the Greater Washington, D.C., area — which has one of the worst foreclosure rates in the country — lost homes six times more frequently during the first quarter of 2008 than in 2007, a new report from the Nonprofit Roundtable of Greater Washington finds. Funded by Fannie Mae, the report, You Have Ten Days to Move Out: A Scan of Nonprofit Organizations Working on the Front Lines of the Foreclosure Crisis in Greater Washington (20 pages, PDF), finds that foodbanks in the region are reporting a significant increase in visits, while other nonprofits are having to lay off staff even as demand for their services is rising.
