Job Summary

City Growers seeks a full-charge Bookkeeper to join our team. The Bookkeeper will be responsible for the organization's day-to-day financial activities, maintaining accurate and organized financial records, and general administrative support.

Executive Director

Responsibilities

  • Perform all bookkeeping functions in Quickbooks Premier Online Nonprofit Edition, including but not limited to:     
    • General Ledger account reconciliation
    • Completing month-close process
    • Accounts payable & accounts receivable
    • Reconciliation of credit cards, bank statements, and petty cash
    • End of year 1099 process
  • Manage the entire payroll process
    • Collect new employee documentation for entry into online portals
    • Utilize time and attendance software and other technologies
    • Execute the biweekly payroll in a paperless environment
    • Liaise with the payroll vendor to ensure timely filing of quarterly and annual returns and forms
  • Maintain financial records
  • Assist with audit preparation
  • Provide clerical and administrative support, including but not limited to
    • Preparing forms, contracts, and other documents
    • Communicating with and managing required documents for insurance providers, payroll company, and government administrators
    • Preparing documents for new employee onboarding and managing personnel files
  • Coordinate registration of government contracts

Qualifications

  • 2+ years experience in bookkeeping or accounting
  • Experience with QuickBooks Online or desktop version
  • Payroll experience required
  • College degree desired
  • Nonprofit experience preferred
  • Ability to use MS Excel, Google Docs or equivalent
  • Must be comfortable adapting to new software and technology  

Requirements/Other

2+ years experience in bookkeeping or accounting required

Payroll experience required

Quickbooks Online or desktop experience required
