Ohio State University Receives $100 Million Gift

Ohio State University has announced a $100 million gift from Leslie Wexner and the Limited Brands Foundation.

The gift will primarily benefit the Ohio State University Medical Center, the Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital, and the Richard J. Solove Research Institute; it will also support the Ohio State's Wexner Center for the Arts and select university initiatives. Wexner, who founded Limited Brands in 1963, will personally contribute $65 million, while the Limited Brands Foundation will provide the remaining $35 million.

Wexner, a 1959 graduate of Ohio State, has been a longtime supporter of the university. He chairs the OSU board of trustees and was founding chair of the Ohio State University Foundation. Along with the Limited Brands Foundation, Wexner has contributed or pledged nearly $200 million to Ohio State.

"I've always believed that you have to do good while doing well," said Wexner. "It's not enough to succeed in business. You have to give back. Ohio State's Medical Center and The James do critically important work. My hope is this gift can help save lives, and maybe even help to cure cancer. It is certainly within our grasp."
