The Baltimore-based Annie E. Casey Foundation has announced the appointment of MAURICE AGRESTA to its board of trustees. Agresta, who worked at UPS for twenty-five years (The Casey Foundation was established in 1948 by Jim Casey, one of the founders of UPS), earlier worked at Arthur Andersen LLP. He currently serves on the foundation's direct services advisory board as well as the Advisory Boards of Tax Diversity.
HOWARD W. BUFFETT will become executive director of the Howard G. Buffett Foundation, the Omaha World-Herald reports. The 27-year-old Buffett, son of Howard G. Buffett and grandson of Warren Buffett, currently is director of an agricultural development program operated by the U.S. Defense Department in Iraq and Afghanistan. Previously, he served as a domestic policy adviser at the White House after working on Barack Obama's 2008 presidential campaign. He also has worked at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and the U.S. Department of Agriculture and serves on the board of the Center on Philanthropy at Indiana University.
The JTG Foundation in Lewiston, Maine, has announced that TONY CIPOLLONE will be its first CEO. Cipollone is vice president of the civic sites and initiatives program at the Annie E. Casey Foundation, where he has worked for twenty years.
In other news, the United Nations Foundation in Washington, D.C., has announced the appointments of SUSAN MYERS as vice president for UN relations, ELIZABETH GORE as vice president for global partnerships, and AARON SHERINIAN as vice president for communications and public relations. Myers has been executive director of the New York office of the United Nations Foundation since 2000 and previously served as legislative director of the Better World Campaign. Gore, wife of former presidential candidate Al Gore, has been executive director of global partnerships for the United Nations Foundation since 2006 and previously served as the director of development and corporate relations for the Points of Light Foundation. Sherinian, executive director of communications and public affairs for the United Nations Foundation since 2009, earlier served as managing director of public affairs for the Millennium Challenge Corporation and as a foreign service officer in the U.S. Department of State.
