To make available to the public an expansive documentary photography collection that chronicles some of the most pressing human rights and social issues of our times.
Housed on the Open Society Foundations'Web site, Moving Wallsprovides a searchable archive of photographs from the Documentary Photography Project's Moving Walls exhibition series, which provides evidence of human rights abuses, puts a human face on conflicts around the world, and documents the struggles of marginalized peoples. As of 2013, the series has featured more than a hundred and seventy photographers over fifteen years.

Visitors to the site can browse archived photographs by photographer, exhibit, location, or topic — including conflict, war, and aftermath; criminal justice; discrimination; environment; health; migration; women; and youth. Each photographer's work is presented around a theme, accompanied by an artist's statement.
