Barton Springs Conservancy Receives $2.1 Million for Bathhouse

The Barton Springs Conservancy in Austin, Texas, has announced a $2.1 million gift from the Galveston-based Moody Foundation to help restore the iconic Barton Springs Bathhouse.

Part of the conservancy's For the Love of the Springs campaign, the gift will be used to rehabilitate, modernize, and improve accessibility to the historic structure, which has been in public use for seventy-two years. Projected renovations include an expansion of the bathroom facilities, restoration of the women's dressing area, and reopening the original men's and women's entrances at the central rotunda locations. A portion of the gift will be used to improve the conservancy's educational offerings.

"As a decades-long swimmer at Barton Springs, the pool and historic bathhouse have always been special to me," said Moody Foundation trustee Ross Moody. "With the Moody Foundation's gift, I am humbled to help expedite the rehabilitation process, so the community can continue to enjoy the historic Barton Springs Pool Bathhouse for many years."
